IFA 2008: Toshiba Gesture Control
In Berlin at the IFA of 2008 the Japanese company Toshiba showed a remarkable prototype. The Toshiba Cambridge Research Lab is momentarily working on a gesture control system. The gesture control system allows you to interact with the TV’s interface through hand movements.

An earlier version of this technology was already applied on the Toshiba Qosmio laptops. The latest gesture control system has an advanced tracking technology and can be used as a secondary interface on a TV in addition to the conventional remote control.

Step in front of the TV from Toshiba and make a fist to control the cursor. Put things into action and stop them by holding up your palm. Another video-based system by Toshiba is the picture/pattern recognition. Hold up a card and once it has been recognized the TV performs a pre-assigned function. Innovating? Yes! World changing? Not yet.
